From the moment the golden retriever, Buster, got adopted by Elizabeth King at just seven weeks old, he had always been known as a goofy and adorable pup. He loved playing in the water all day long and would always be seen running around the house or huddled with his favorite balls and plush toys.
But apart from being goofy, Buster was a very friendly and sweet dog, as well. He always made sure to greet every stranger during his walks and loved saying hello to his human and doggy neighbors in their little community in Nashville, Tennessee.
Because of his sweet personality, the ten-year-old golden retriever had made lots of neighbor friends. Most of them always looked forward to petting him every time he was out on a walk. And the fur mom couldn’t be prouder of how her pup easily made so many people happy by just being himself.
For the past ten years, Elizabeth and Buster had lived a rather happy and adventurous life. Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for this year. You see, just last spring, the golden retriever was diagnosed with cancer.
The fur mom was understandably heartbroken at the news, but there was never a moment that Buster made her feel sad. In fact, even he was sick, he would still ask Elizabeth for a walk and was always there to comfort her during her lowest times.
When Buster passed away last September, the fur mom started thinking of ways that she could break the news to her neighbors, who had grown to love the golden retriever, too. That was when she decided to make a commemorative poster of the canine.
The poster generally looked like a Lost Dog poster, but Elizabeth replaced the word “lost” with “loved.” When Megan Clemens, one of Buster’s neighbors, saw the sign, it immediately melted her heart. She decided to share the picture on Facebook, where it had gained over 6,000 reactions.
Although Buster has crossed the rainbow bridge now, Megan knows that he was loved beyond compare. Look at the heartwarming Buster’s Loved Dog poster here.
