Puppy buried alive on a beach finally found her forever family. On what seemed like a typical day on the coast of Oahu, Hawaii, a passerby saw someone burying a puppy in the open. The cruel man had no disregard of whether someone would see him or if it was in broad daylight. He was burying his own pet.
Thankfully, the good samaritan acted up. He called the man out and made him run away in fear. When he looked closely at the poor pup, he saw that it was still alive but in a horrible condition.
The pup was covered in sores, had cuts on her legs, and was nearly bald to the point that one could see her skin. After seeing her condition, the good samaritan immediately called PAWS of Hawaii for help.
Once the rescuers arrived, they brought the pup, later named Leialoha, to the Aloha Affordable Veterinary Services for focused care. The puppy needed some TLC, and the vets in that clinic were up for the task.
The shelter took care of her for days before finally transferring her over to a foster home. Her foster parents were Amanda Krasniewski and her husband.
According to Amanda, the first few moments with Leialoha were hard. The poor pup smelled awful because of her skin infections. On top of that, she would also cry in pain whenever someone touches her.
Amanda initially thought that Leialoha wouldn’t make it that night. But after seeing her tail wag on the next morning, the foster parent realized that there’s hope after all.
Amanda and her husband gave Leialoha all the time to adjust while giving her the right treatment. In just a few days, the now free-spirited pup transitioned from just staying in the kennel to sleeping on the couch.
When Leialoha became medically cleared, a family from Big Island was supposed to adopt her. However, it eventually fell through since one of their dogs got sick. It was a heartbreaking moment for her foster parents.
But as soon as Leialoha came back, they became closer. It wasn’t until they realized that they wanted her to become a permanent part of the family, and they did! They signed the papers and welcomed her into their family!
Thanks to luckyleialoha for the photos.
