Anyone can treat dogs well for a little while, but it takes good owners to treat them well for a lifetime. Since dogs cannot pick their own family, there are times they end up with the wrong people at the wrong time.
In 2011, a pet owner, Ernie Moss, found a pit bull named Tatiana by chance. She was in a severe state after being beaten with her legs tied and her mouth sealed with tape. Ernie and his wife immediately called for help to save the poor dog in need.
Tatiana was first brought to the Capital Area Humane Society to get initial treatment for her injuries. If not for Ernie and his wife’s quick thinking, the pup allegedly may not have lived for another day.
For more than a year, Tatiana spent her days gradually recuperating in the said shelter, but her condition worsened as the days passed. She was then rushed to the local vet to be checked thoroughly.
Afterward, Tatiana was handed over to another welcoming shelter, Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary. She appears to be too uneasy and anxious toward her surroundings and shows minimal social contact with other dogs and human, particularly men.
Tatiana was taking her time in recovering from her painful past and in fully trusting humans again. Hence, finding a perfect family for her was a big challenge to the shelter staff. After some time, she slowly opened up to them and then became the most beloved dog.
Putting her past behind, Tatiana, now a senior dog, finally learns to embrace the world around her and is ready to get adopted. Since she had been waiting for her forever family for a long time already, a volunteer, Michelle, took an initiative by fostering Tatiana over the weekends. One thing led to another, and she turned out to be her forever foster family later on.
Thanks to a savior like Michelle, Tatiana now has a loving family to call her own who will take care of her forever. She will now get to enjoy her golden years free of suffering and heartache after a decade of waiting.
